These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a contract between you and Middleton Co-operating (“we”, “us”, “our”), the organiser of Midd Quid Rewarding Middletonians for Spending Locally. They govern your use of the Midd Quid website, wallet, business portal, and related services (the “Service”).
By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Midd Quid.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring a claim in your home courts.
Who the Service is for
Midd Quid is a local loyalty scheme for shoppers and traders in Middleton. Customers earn Midd Quids when they shop with participating businesses and can spend them on offers those businesses publish. Businesses issue Midd Quids, post offer boards, and redeem them at the till.
The Service is intended for people aged 13 or over. If you are under 18 you should only use it with a parent or guardian’s permission. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13.
Your account
- You must give accurate details and keep your password secret.
- You are responsible for activity on your account.
- Customer accounts use an email address. Business logins may be an email, stall name, or another unique identifier issued for the scheme.
- Business accounts must be approved by us before you can issue Midd Quids or publish offer boards. You can still set up your profile while you wait.
- We may suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe these Terms have been broken, the scheme is being abused, or we need to protect other users.
- You can stop using the Service at any time. Contact us if you want your account deleted (see the Privacy Policy).
Midd Quids
Midd Quids are a promotional loyalty credit for use only with participating Midd Quid traders. They are not electronic money, a stored-value facility, a deposit, a gift voucher with cash redemption, or legal tender. They have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for sterling except where we are required by law.
- Customers typically earn 1 Midd Quid per qualifying transaction, or 2 when paying cash. We (or a trader, within the rules of the scheme) may change earn rates.
- Offers set how many Midd Quids are needed to redeem, and may have hours, limits, or an expiry.
- Midd Quids cannot be transferred between customers, sold, or reverse-engineered into a cash payment.
- We may correct obvious errors (for example a duplicated earn or a scan that should not have counted).
- If the scheme ends, unused Midd Quids lapse unless we say otherwise. We will try to give reasonable notice on the Service.
Offers are made by the relevant business, not by us, unless we say otherwise. Availability, remaining redemptions, and what you actually receive are between you and that trader. Please take up complaints about a specific offer with the business first.
Businesses
If you register a business you confirm that you are authorised to act for it, and that:
- information you publish (name, description, address, offers) is accurate and lawful;
- you will only issue Midd Quids for genuine customer transactions in line with the scheme;
- you will honour valid redemptions while an offer is live, subject to stock, stated limits, and opening hours;
- you will not use the Service to mislead shoppers, scrape other users’ data, or send spam;
- you are responsible for any prices, products, and consumer-law obligations that sit with you as a trader.
We may refuse, pause, or remove a business or offer if it is inaccurate, offensive, unsafe, unlawful, or harmful to the scheme.
Acceptable use
You must not:
- try to access other people’s accounts, wallets, or admin tools;
- interfere with the Service, scan codes you are not entitled to use, or generate Midd Quids fraudulently;
- upload anything unlawful, defamatory, or that infringes someone else’s rights;
- use the Service for anything other than the Middleton loyalty scheme it is built for.
Our role
We provide the platform that records earns and redemptions and shows offer boards. We do not ourselves sell the goods or services on those boards. Maps, fonts, and similar extras may come from third parties and can be unavailable from time to time.
The Service is provided as-is for a community festival scheme. We aim to keep it available but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free records, or that a particular offer will remain live.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that English law does not allow us to exclude. For consumers, your statutory rights are unaffected. For businesses using the portal, we are not liable for loss of profit, data, or indirect loss, and our total liability arising from the Service is limited to £100.
Changes
We may update these Terms to reflect how the scheme actually runs, the law, or how the Service works. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will change. If a change is material we will try to flag it in the app or by email where we have one. Continued use after a change means you accept the new Terms.
