This Cookie Policy explains how Middleton Co-operating uses cookies and similar technologies on Midd Quid, in line with UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by a website. We keep our use of cookies to the minimum needed to run the Service.
Cookies we set

These cookies are essential to provide a service you have asked for (an account and a wallet), so PECR does not require a separate consent banner for them. You can still block cookies in your browser; if you do, you will not be able to stay signed in.
What we do not use
- Advertising or retargeting cookies
- Social-media tracking pixels
- Analytics cookies (we do not currently run Google Analytics or similar)
- Third-party cookies that profile you across other sites
Similar technologies
Local storage on your device may be used by the camera scanner on the wallet scan page so the QR reader can run. That stays on your device and is not used to track you.
If you install a Midd Quid app and allow push notifications, your device token is handled by OneSignal so we can tell you about new boards. That is not a web cookie. You can disable notifications in the app or system settings.
Third-party content
Some pages load resources from other organisations so the Service can look and work as designed. Those requests can include your IP address. They are not cookies we set, but they can involve similar technology:
- Google Fonts — the Public Sans typeface used throughout Midd Quid.
- unpkg / CDNs — the Pico CSS base stylesheet, and the QR scanner script on the scan page.
- OpenStreetMap — map embeds on public offer boards. OSM may set its own cookies when you interact with a map; see OpenStreetMap’s notices.
We do not control those third parties’ cookies. If you want to limit them, use your browser’s tracker or third-party cookie controls, or a content blocker. Blocking them may change how maps, fonts, or scanning look.
How to control cookies
Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. Look under Settings, Privacy, or Cookies. The ICO has a short guide at ico.org.uk/for-the-public/online/cookies.
You can also use private/incognito browsing, which typically drops session cookies when the window closes — useful if you are on a shared device and did not tick “Stay logged in”.
Changes
If we ever add analytics or marketing cookies we will update this policy and, where PECR requires it, ask for consent before setting them. The date at the top of this page is the latest version.
